WHERE IS THIS LAND "PALESTINE" ? by Doug R.
"A WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN" by Doug R.
At this present
moment in time, the term "Palestine" seems to be in constant use throughout the media, the political realm
and is even frequently heard in the House of Commons in London.
Yet, at this present time "Palestine"
does not exist as a geographical, regional, political or religious entity of ANY description and has not done so since the
re-birth of the Jewish state of Israel in May 1948.
The use of the term is not only a distortion of the facts on
the ground in the Middle East but also denotes an inherent bias against the present existence of the State of Israel within
it's current boundaries and a predilection towards the Arab stance in the region.
As I will shortly outline,
the homeland of the Jewish people first became referred to as "Palestine" following the second Jewish revolt
against Roman rule in AD135.
Although books and commentaries dealing with the land of the Hebrews often use the
term "Palestine", the term actually has no warrant through the Biblical period right up until AD135.
Indeed, during the period of time that Jesus Christ walked amongst us, the Land is referred to as Eretz Israel. Those
Bible maps using the phrase "Palestine in the time of Christ" are sadly misleading. Thankfully some publishers
have begun to recognise this....but not all.
{Many writers of all persuasions having expediently used the name
"Palestine" as an alternative to "Canaan" or the "Holy Land". However,
it should be noted that these uses have no connection whatsoever to the "Arab-Palestinian" nationalistic
connotations that we are familiar with today.}
Subsequent to the Roman victory over the children of Israel, which
resulted in the "Diaspora", the Land was renamed "Syria Palestina" and Jerusalem renamed
"Aelia Capitolina" ;- this in order to remove any Jewish connection to the Land. "Syria
Palestina" eventually became anglicised into "Palestine".
Timeline of Palestine.
The region known as "Palestine" was then
occupied by numerous empires including the Romans (to 330AD) and also;
Byzantines (330-638AD), Arabs
(Fatimids & Abbasids), and Turks (Seljuks) (638-1099AD), Crusaders (1099-1291AD), Mamluks (1291-1516AD), Ottomans
(1516-1917AD), British (1917-1948AD).
Israel was reborn in 1948 and exists to the present day.
"Dividing Up Of The Land....."
At the
post WW1 Versailles Treaty of 1920, Great Britain was given a Mandate by the League of Nations to create a Jewish homeland
in all of Palestine in accordance with the Balfour Treaty. (Palestine at that time included the whole of present day Israel,
including the "West Bank" and Gaza PLUS the whole of present day Jordan.)
In 1922 Great Britain
reneged upon this commitment and separated 77% of ‘mandated Palestine' from the area designated as a Jewish
homeland and gave it to King Abdullah as an area of Arab autonomy to satisfy Arab national aspirations of that time.
This area of territory became the NEW nation of Transjordan (the latter was granted full Arb sovereignty
by Britain in 1946 and renamed Jordan in 1950).
What "remained" of Palestine still didn't
result in a Jewish state.
In fact during November 1947 the United Nations voted to even further divide
the remaining 23% of Palestine (west of the Jordan River) into yet another Arab state and .....a Jewish homeland. However,
the Jews had been left to eat the crumbs from the table and were left with only some 12% of the area originally promised to
them.
The 1947 United Nations vote effectively gave the Arabs 88% of former "Palestine".
When the nation of Israel was proclaimed on 15th May 1948, the Arab armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq
attacked the Jewish state with the intention of "driving the Jews into the sea".
"Quotes from Arab leaders of the time..."
The following is
a direct quotation during 1948 of the public declaration of Jamal Al-Hussein, the Vice-president of the A.H.C. (Arab High
Committee - the effective Palestinian-Arab `government');-
"We are sadly and PERMANENTLY
determined to fight to the last man against the existence in our country of ANY Jewish state, no matter how small it is..."
A general public circular of the same Arab High Committee at that time also publicly
declared, just three years after the Holocaust;-
"The Arabs have taken into their own hands,
the FINAL SOLUTION of the Jewish problem. The problem will be solved only in blood and fire. The Jews will be driven out."
The Arab onslaught failed to destroy Israel and ceasefire lines were subsequently drawn in 1949
with Gaza being illegally occupied by Egypt, with Judea& Samaria (including East Jerusalem) illegally occupied by Jordan.
Jordan annexing the latter territories in 1950 and renaming Judea & Samaria as the "West Bank".
In 1967 - following the Egyptian blockade of the Straits of Tirhan (itself an act of war) which prevented
Israel shipping from using their only access to the Red Sea - public pronouncements of Arab intent to eradicate Israel - Arab
demands for the removal of the UN ‘Peacekeeping Force' from the Sinai (the UN immediately obliging) - the
largescale build up on Israel's borders of mass troop/armour formations, Israel decided to launch a pre-emptive attack
to forestall an imminent attack by overwhelming Arab forces.
The Government of Israel had appealed to King
Hussein of Jordan not to join in this war, assuring him that if he kept Jordan out of the conflict, Israel would not turn
it's forces against his country. However, history shows from recorded communications between the Arab leaders that King
Hussein considered this an opportunity, in destroying Israel, to further expand his kingdom, again at the latter's expense.
The rest is history too. Jordan lost East Jerusalem and the "West Bank" and Egypt lost the
Gaza Strip.
During their 19 year illegal occupation of these territories, neither Jordan or Egypt made any move
to create any ‘independent' Palestinian state in these territories.
Instead Egypt created the
PLO during 1964 and the territories were used as a platform from which to launch attacks into the Jewish state.
"Disappearance of Palestine".
It is clear
therefore, that the name "Palestine" as an exact and proper designation/location disappeared from the geography
of the area in 1948. It still does not exist at this time, despite the distorted and expedient references which support the
Arab world within the media and political realms.
It should also be noted that until 1948, even Jews living in
the territories were known as "Palestinians".
The local Arabs declined to use the term as they
believed it described the resident Jews. The Arabs preferring to be known as ....Arabs.
The present use of the
term "Palestine" has been developed as a powerful propaganda weapon in the hands of the Arab nations, the
PLO and it's many allied factions.
Revisionist History.
The Arab nations and the PLO have harnessed the most adept & skilled resources, some of these from the Western
world, to promote the mythical concept of a land of Palestine which has been the "homeland"
of the Palestinian people "from time immemorial", with a Palestinian "people" having
been the rightful owners and occupiers of that land, who have now themselves been dispossessed by the invading "Zionist
Jews".
It is historical fact that Palestine has never existed as an autonomous entity.
There is no language known as Palestinian.
There is no distinct
Palestinian culture.
There has never been a land known as Palestine governed by Palestinians.
Palestinians are Arabs, indistinguishable from Jordanians (another recent invention), Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis,
etc
The Arabs - In Their Own Words.
To the
Arab people as a whole, no such entity as "Palestine" or a "Palestinian people" existed.
They were not conscious of any such relationship with the Land.
Perhaps it may be of some relevance to quote
what senior Arab leaders say of the subject in their own words.
1) The following is a statement by Zuheir
Mohsein, Member of the Supreme Council of the PLO: (Trouw; Dutch newspaper - March 31, 1977)
"There
are no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. We are all part of one nation. It is only for political
reasons that we carefully underline our Palestinian identity, because it is in the interest of the Arabs to encourage a separate
Palestinian identity in contrast to Zionism. Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity is there only for tactical
reasons. The establishment of a Palestinian state is a new expedient to continue the fight against Zionism and for Arab unity
."
2) The following is a statement by Auni Bey Abdul-Hadi to the Pell Commission
in 1937;
"There is no such country as 'Palestine'; 'Palestine' is a term the Zionists
invented!"
3) The following statement of Arab MK, Abdul Darawshe is quoted
in the Jerusalem Institute of Western Defence, Bulletin 3, August 15, 1997:
"There is no difference
between one Palestinian and another. We are all Palestinians and we are all Syrian Arabs".
4) Abdul Malik Dahamshe, an Israeli Arab Knesset member, said at a solidarity visit in Damascus, Syria
[David Makovsky, Jerusalem Post, January 24, 1995]:
Palestine and Syria are one homeland. The Arab
people will win by the sword; the victory will be won by the Jihad of the Arab world.
5) The following is a statement by Ahmed Shuqeiri, to the UN Security Council in 1949;
"It
is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but southern Syria"
6)
Salah Khalaf (Abu Iyad) number two in the PLO leadership (Al Sachrah, Kuwait, Jan. 6, 1987)
"We
will take Palestine and turn it into a part of the greater Arab nation".
7)
Even Winston Churchill said in 1939;
"Far from being persecuted, the Arabs have crowded into the
country and multiplied until their population has increased more than even all world Jewry could lift up the Jewish population".
8) Winston Churchill said again on 26 January 1949;
"The Jews, by the
gift they have and by the means which they do not lack, have a way of making the desert bloom. Those who have seen it testify.
The Arabs, with all their dignity and grace, are primarily the children of the desert, and where they dwell - in this part
of the World at least - and for the most part, the desert lands do not become reclaimed while the Arab control is complete
over them."
Arab world already constitutes largest area occupied
by any ethnic group.
The Arab world now held an area which covered 99.5% of the entire Middle East,
with the re-born Jewish state holding the remaining 0.5%.
The area of land occupied by the Arabs being one tenth
of the World's surface and the largest area occupied by any ethnic group on the planet.....yet it is
still not enough and they demand the tiny area allocated to the Jews as well.
Yet despite the media and political
distortions, despite the propaganda and the misguided words of politicians, "Palestine" still
does not exist.
The demise of Yasser Arafat & his "replacement".
Even Yasser Arafat, whose agenda never ceased from being the eradication of Israel & it's replacement
with a Palestinian state, knew this right up until his recent death.
The media and political realms may have appeared
to some to transform the "father of modern day terrorism" into a "statesman" and "freedom
fighter", but the reality has not changed.
Not only has the World at large come to accept the Arab view
of history, but Palestinian Arab residents of Judea & Samaria and the Gaza Strip also now believe it implicitly. They
have been taught nothing else.
The World refers to the above territories as "illegally occupied"
by Israel. The Biblical or "disputed" element pertaining to the Land seldom gets a mention at this time.
Few realise that the creation of a future Palestinian state in these territories is in fact part of the "phased
plan of the PLO" towards their "final elimination" of the Jewish state.
PLO Replacement is "founder" of "Phased Plan".
The founder of this "phased plan" was Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas)....who
has now been elected as Palestinian leader in the wake of Arafat's death.
He is said to have also been responsible
for financing the 1972 attack on Israeli athletes in the Munich Olympics.)
The Nazis had their "Final
Solution"; their comprehensive plan for the destruction of the Jewish people.
The PLO has their "Final
Solution"....it is called the "plan of phases" ...towards the destruction of Israel.

"Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen), who was second in command
to Palestinian Authority chairman Yasir Arafat, has publicly demanded that Israel withdraw from the Galilee region--the northern
section of Israel, which has been part of the country since 1948....In an interview with the Abu Dhabi newspaper Al Ittihad
on May 30, 1999, Abbas said: "Israel must withdraw from Jerusalem...Our position on the issue of Jerusalem and all the
occupied Palestinian territories is clear and ......."When Arafat's #2 man calls for Israel to withdraw from the
Galilee, he is telling the Palestinian Arabs that he doesn't want peace, but wants to reduce Israel to militarily indefensible
borders that will make it feasible for the Arabs to eventually destroy Israel altogether.... "
