FAST FACTS & POINTS TO PONDER. by Doug R.
(1) The following is a historical fact. The
Supreme Soviet, (referring specifically to the Soviet Union's occupation of Eastern Europe during and after World War
2, having defeated the invading Nazi forces), formulated the following which was wholly acceptable to the International Community;-
‘A
people which has been attacked, has defended itself and wins wars, is bound by sacred duty to establish for itself in perpetuity,
a political situation which will ensure the liquidation of the sources of aggression. It is entitled to maintain this state
of affairs as long as the danger of aggression does not cease. A nation which has attained security at the cost of numerous
victims will never agree to the restoration of the previous borders. No territories are to be returned as long as the danger
of aggression still prevails.'
(This declaration was published in Pravda on 02 September 1964.)
What
was deemed acceptable by the International Communty in relation to the Soviet Union however is international anathema
when applied to Israel.
The same International Community, including Russia, calls for Israel to return
such land captured in 1967 and withdraw to it's boundaries of yester-year even at the risk of the Jewish State's eradication.
Israel is the only nation in history to be repeatedly attacked by neighbouring armies and after inflicting
humiliating defeats upon them, is then pressurised to adopt the posture of a defeated nation by suing for peace and returning
captured territory, further endangering it's very existence.
(2)Israel's
territorial rights after 1967 are best seen by contrasting them with Jordan's “lack of such rights”in
Jerusalem and the West Bank after the Jordanian invasion of Palestine in 1948.
The presence of Jordan in Jerusalem
and elsewhere in Judea and Samaria from 1948 to 1967 was only by virtue of her illegal entry in 1948. Under the international
law principle ex iniuria non oritur ius she acquired no legal title there.
Egypt itself denied Jordanian sovereignty;
and Egypt never tried to claim Gaza as Egyptian territory...
By contrast, Israel's presence
in all these areas pending negotiation of new borders is entirely lawful, since Israel entered them lawfully in self-defense.
International law forbids acquisition by unlawful force, but not where, as in the case of Israel's self-defense
in 1967, the entry on the territory was lawful.
It does not so forbid it, in particular, when the force is used
to stop an aggressor, for the effect of such prohibition would be to guarantee to all potential aggressors that, even if their
aggression failed, all territory lost in the attempt would be automatically returned to them. Such a rule would be absurd
to the point of lunacy. There is no such rule...
International law, therefore, gives a triple underpinning
to Israel's claim that she is under no obligation to hand "back" automatically the West Bank and Gaza
to Jordan or anyone else.
In the first place, these lands never legally belonged to Jordan. Second, even if they
had, Israel's own present control is lawful, and she is entitled to negotiate the extent and the terms of her withdrawal.
Third, international law would not in such circumstances require the automatic handing back of territory even to an aggressor
who was the former sovereign. It requires the extent and conditions of the handing back to be negotiated between the parties.

(3) Since the signing of the Oslo Accord in 1993, the Institute Of Peace Education (Tel Aviv) has monitored EVERY broadcast
of the Palestinian Authority's Television and Radio Networks and scrutinised EVERY statement released in Arabic by their
Ministry Of Information. They have NEVER found in any Arabic speech or publication to the Arab people ANY words of peace !
Instead, they have discovered repeated Arab calls for a holy war and the absolute and total eradication of the Jewish State.
Every means being called for to obtain every possible territorial concession from Israel, which is to be used as a platform
towards that end.
(4) "The lessons I absorbed from Panama confirmed all my convictions
over the preceding 20 years, since the days of doubt over Vietnam. Have a clear political objective and stick to it. Use all
the force necessary and do not apologize for going in big if that is what it takes. Decisive force ends wars quickly and in
the long run saves lives."
The quote is from no less than the former US Secretary Of State, Colin Powell,
writing in his autobiography, "My American Journey," page 421. The very same person who has led the International
criticism of Israeli action in response to Palestinian terrorism.
(5) In June 1967,
when the Jewish forces recaptured East Jerusalem and returned to the Jewish Quarter to which they had been forbidden
access by the Arabs, the Israelis discovered that EVERYTHING Jewish had been looted and destroyed.
Fifty
eight historic Jewish synagogues had been razed to the ground or used as garbage dumps or chicken coops. Jewish graves were
found open with bones strewn on the ground, which is a severe desecration in Judaism. Some 75% of the 50,000 gravestones in
the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives had been removed and used to build a Arab Hotel, and to pave a path leading
to Jordanian Army latrines.
Even today, on Judaism's most holy site in the world, the Temple Mount
in Jerusalem, illegal Palestinian digging to create another mosque, has resulted in many hundreds of thousands of tons of
Jewish Temple-rich artifacts being destroyed. The World has remained silent throughout.
(6) When greeted with a "Welcome to Jerusalem, the capital of Israel" in 1998 by a representative of
the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the late British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook immediately replied, "We only recognise
Tel Aviv as the capital of Israel".
Robin Cook also publicly stated in February 1998, that "It
was unacceptable that the Israeli Government should give in to domestic demands which contradicted the expectations of the
international community.'"
This statement implies that the democratically elected governments
of Israel, together with the wishes of the ordinary Israeli people are of no importance or concern and that Israel should
unreservedly accept the will of the pro-Arab international community.
(7)A statement
of previous UN Secretary General Boutros-Gali which showed the real position of the UN;-
"Jews
must give up their status as a nation and Israel as a state, and assimilate as a community in the Arab world."
(8)The Arab League, together with the Moslem and Arab nations comprising the 57-nation Organization
of the Islamic Conference, are able to place immense pressure upon the International Community and the various UN bodies.
With such enormous, one-sided influence, the Palestinians are blatantly aware that they can very EASILY manipulate
in their favour ANY subsequent UN vote or action on a wide range of anti-Israeli issues.
Membership
of the UN Security Council has ALWAYS been denied to Israel, yet Arab nations frequently sit upon the Council, often two Arab
nations at a time. Again, UN Security Council resolutions are always swayed against Israel before voting even begins. Without
the occasional US veto, virtually any anti-Israeli resolution would be passed. These Resolutions can be enforcable.
Many
of these Arab and Moslem nations, who do not even recognise the basic right of Israel to even exist, have sat on the UN Security
Council and have been able to use their votes to implement numerous anti-Israeli UN Resolutions. Even Syria, recognised as
a state sponsor of terrorist organisations has recently held such a position.
Israel has never held or even been
invited to hold a position on this UN body. Is it any wonder that Israel has no confidence in UN decisions and Resolutions
in respect of the Jewish State. t is difficult to fathom the depths of hatred and hypocrisy emanating from the UN towards
the Jewish state of Israel.
(9)"In Germany they first came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because
I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me. And by that
time, no-one was left to speak up." Pastor Martin Niemuller
(10)Some 25 years
ago surrounding the Camp David accords, former Israeli Prime Minister Begin stated;- "President Carter told me he
was opposed to a Palestinian state, but some European countries are so thirsty for oil and petro-dollars, they would rather
surrender. It would not be the first time they surrendered to pressure. It happened in the '30's, and brought disaster
to the world. Do we want to repeat that disaster? A Palestinian state is a moral danger to Israel, and a great peril to the
free world. We never agreed to a Palestinian state at Camp David. We agreed to autonomy as a way to solve the problem of the
Palestinian Arabs. Under no circumstances did we agree that the PLO could ever participate in the peace process or reside
in Judea and Samaria. It is out of the question! If it happened, peace would be murdered, and there would be permanent bloodshed."
(11) On 13 October 2000, the official Palestinian Authority television station broadcast live
a Friday sermon in the Zayed bin Sultan Aal Nahyan mosque in Gaza. Below are excerpts from the sermon, as transcribed by the
Middle East Media Research Institute (
WWW.MEMRI.ORG), .
The speaker is Dr. Ahmad Abu Halabiya, Member of the Palestinian Authority-appointed "Fatwa Council"
and former acting Rector of the Islamic University in Gaza.
On killing Jews and Americans:
"O
brother believers, the criminals, the terrorists - are the Jews, who have butchered our children, orphaned them, widowed our
women and desecrated our holy places and sacred sites. They are the terrorists. They are the ones who must be butchered and
killed, as Allah the Almighty said: 'Fight them: Allah will torture them at your hands, and will humiliate them and will
help you to overcome them, and will relieve the minds of the believers..."
"Have no
mercy on the Jews, no matter where they are, in any country. Fight them, wherever you are. Wherever you meet them, kill them.
Wherever you are, kill those Jews and those Americans who are like them - and those who stand by them - they are all in one
trench, against the Arabs and the Muslims because they established Israel here, in the beating heart of the Arab world, in
Palestine. They created it to be the outpost of their civilization and the vanguard of their army, and to be the sword of
the West and the crusaders, hanging over the necks of the monotheists, the Muslims in these lands. They wanted the Jews to
be their spearhead..."
On making peace with Israel:
"Even
if an agreement of Gaza is signed - we shall not forget Haifa, and Acre, and the Galilee, and Jaffa, and the Triangle and
the Negev, and the rest of our cities and villages. It is only a matter of time. The weak will not remain forever weak, and
the strong will not remain forever strong... If we are weak today... and we are not able to regain our rights, then at least
we have to pass on the banner - waving high - to our children and grandchildren..."
"...We
will not give up a single grain of soil of Palestine, from Haifa, and Jaffa, and Acre, and Mulabbas [Petah Tikva] and Salamah,
and Majdal [Ashkelon], and all the land, and Gaza, and the West Bank..."
"...Let us put our trust
in Allah, close ranks, and unite our words, and the slogan of us all should be, 'Jihad! Jihad! For the sake of Palestine,
and for the sake of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa!'"
On divine rewards for warfare:
"O
brothers in belief, the beautiful bride has a costly price and dowry... Our bride is paradise, O brothers in belief... The
cost and the dowry of this bride, the dowry of this paradise, is that we fight in the path of Allah, and kill and be killed."
"Allah
has purchased from the believers their persons and their property in return for the promise that they shall have paradise,
for they fight in the cause of Allah, and they slay the enemy and are slain."
(12)The following are quotes from the late Yasser Arafat's secret meeting with top Arab diplomats in Stockholm's
Grand Hotel on January 30, 1996. These quotes have been subject to independent verification by a number of top investigative
journalists and terrorism experts in several countries.
"We Palestinians will takeover
everything, including all of Jerusalem," the PLO leader declared, claiming Israeli leaders "Peres and Beilin
have already promised us half of Jerusalem. The Golan Heights have already been given away, subject to just a few details."
"We of the PLO will now concentrate all our efforts on splitting Israel psychologically into two camps,"
Arafat reportedly declared. "Within five years, we will have six to seven million Arabs living on the West Bank and
in Jerusalem. All Palestinian Arabs will be welcomed by us. If the Jews can import all kinds of Ethiopians, Russians, Uzbeks
and Ukranians as Jews, we can import all kinds of Arabs to us."
He added that the PLO plans "to eliminate
the State of Israel and establish a purely Palestinian State. We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare
and population explosion; Jews won't want to live among us Arabs."
(13)The
senior BBC Arabic Service correspondent in the Gaza Strip, Fayad Abu Shamala, told a Hamas rally on May 6, 2001 to honor some
140 Palestinian, Arab, Islamic, and international journalists, (attended by the then Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin) that
journalists and media organizations in Gaza, including the BBC, are "waging the campaign shoulder-to-shoulder together
with the Palestinian people."
(14)The following appeared in the
Palestinian newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadida on July 2, 1998]
"Jews Fabricated Story of Gas Ovens and Holocaust
to Arouse Admiration"
“The winds blew in their [the Jews] favor, when the persecution against
them by the Nazi Hitler started…then the show began. They began to distribute horrific pictures of mass shooting being
committed against them and to fabricate the shocking story about gas ovens, which, according to them, Hitler would burn them
[the Jews].
Newspaper columns began to fill up with pictures of Jews being cut down by Hitler’s
machine guns, and of Jews being led to the gas ovens. In these pictures they concentrated on women, children and the elderly.
And they took advantage of this in order to arouse admiration for them, while they demand a monetary compensation, grants
and contributions from all over the world. The truth is that the persecution of the Jews is a false fable that the Jews called
the disaster of the “Holocaust”…and took advantage of it in order to arouse admiration…
And
although it is possible that Hitler’s attack against the Jews hurt them slightly, it also serviced them to the point
where still today they reap the benefits and it was the main door to her winning the American and European admiration and
to realizing their dream and their plans…
When we survey the news agencies, the newspapers,
the journals and the world television stations, which the Jews control in the West, it becomes clear to us the extent of their
media influence in the world [and their control] of a number of world news agencies, French and British newspapers...”
(15) "Selections from dissertation of current Palestinian Authority
Chairman Mahmoud Abbas"
"The Other Side: The Secret Relations Between Nazism and the Leadership
of the Zionist Movement." 1983, translation by Wiesenthal Center.
On cooperation between the
Zionist leaders and Nazi Germany
"A partnership was established between Hitler's Nazis and the leadership
of the Zionist movement...[the Zionists gave] permission to every racist in the world, led by Hitler and the Nazis, to treat
Jews as they wish, so long as it guarantees immigration to Palestine."
On the Jews raising
the number of Holocaust victims;-
"Having more victims meant greater rights and stronger privilege to join
the negotiation table for dividing the spoils of war once it was over. However, since Zionism was not a fighting partner --
suffering victims in a battle -- it had no escape but to offer up human beings, under any name, to raise the number of victims,
which they could then boast of at the moment of accounting."
"It seems that the interest of the Zionist
movement...is to inflate this figure so that their gains will be greater. This led them to emphasize this figure in order
to gain the solidarity of international public opinion with Zionism. Many scholars have debated the figure of six million
and reached stunning conclusions -- fixing the number of Jewish victims at only a few hundred thousand."
On doubts about the numbers Jews killed in Holocaust;
"Following the war word
was spread that six million Jews were amongst the victims and that a war of extermination was aimed primarily at the Jews...The
truth is that no one can either confirm or deny this figure.”
“In other words, it is possible that
the number of Jewish victims reached six million, but at the same time it is possible that the figure is much smaller -- below
one million".
(16) The following is an excerpt from a presentation on Palestinian
Television, November 29, 2000 by Dr. Issam Sissalem, history lecturer, Islamic University Gaza;-
"All Lies...
No Auschwitz, They were Disinfecting Sites"
“...Lies surfaced about Jews being murdered here
and there, and the Holocaust. And, of course, they are all lies and unfounded claims. No Dachau, no Auschwitz! They were disinfecting
sites... They began to publicize in their propaganda that they were persecuted, murdered and exterminated... Committees acted
here and there to establish this entity [Israel-Ed.], this foreign entity, implanted as a cancer in our country, where our
fathers lived, where we live, and where our children after us will live. They always portrayed themselves as victims, and
they made a Center for Heroism and Holocaust. Whose heroism? Whose Holocaust? Heroism is our nation’s, the holocaust
was against our people... We were the victims, but we shall not remain victims forever...”
(17) The Palestinian "Police Force" that was explicitly created to 'prevent terrorism'
has vastly increased in size beyond all agreements, possesses vast amounts of forbidden armourery and is the "largest
per capita ratio Police Force of any such entity in the entire World".
(18) The
following is a recorded statement by the late Yasser Arafat on Nov. 8, 2000, to his FATAH and Tanzim militia leader Marwan
Barghouti ;-
"EVERY time that you hear me declare a ceasefire and a halt to the violence, IGNORE THESE
DECLARATIONS ! You know that I am under heavy pressure from the United States and Europe. You should IGNORE this and CONTINUE.
You should know that we are in a difficult financial situation because of the Intifada. We will not receive any more money
from the United States and Israel will stop the monthly transfer of funds. Our only hope of getting money is from the Arab
States. But the Arab States will not give money if there is not BLOOD. Therefore, PRESS, PRESS, PRESS !!!"
(information
sources;- Middle East Media Research Institute & Independent Media Review Analysis).
Barghouti has since been
imprisoned, convicted of the murder of over a dozen Israelis and many terrorist activities.
(19)We
hear continual references at the UN, the International "Court of Justice", on TV and in the press about
Israel's "wall".
The TV cameras concentrate on what little sections of "wall"
there are. It is in fact largely a barrier because when completed, less than 3 percent - or only 12.5 miles
of the eventual 450 miles of the fence will be concrete wall. The rest of the barrier is wire fence with a dirt road on both
sides to check for footprints and electronic sensors to detect infiltration.
The concrete sections are
near Palestinian towns where taller buildings allow snipers to shoot at civilian drivers on nearby Israeli roads. The sections
of wall are there to block the sniper fire.
The fence has 41 gates to allow farmers to tend their fields
where the fence goes through their land. The farmers have been entrusted with keys. There are 11 crossing points where people
can move freely, as long as they are not carrying weapons or explosives. (Now that the Palestinians are using women and even
small children, everyone is a potential bomb and must walk through metal detectors.)
There are five terminals for
the transfer of goods between the PA and Israel.
How often do we hear any of this in the media. Rarely. It is mentioned
as often as it is pointed out that "the barrier would be an irrelevance if there were no terrorism".
(20) "In order to obtain the goal of returning to Palestine, all of us sometimes have to
grit our teeth [a reference to the "peace process"]. But it is forbidden that this harm the continued struggle against
the Zionist enemy ... The speedy retreat of Israel from the occupied territories is only the first stage in the establishment
of a Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem. Only a state like that can then continue the struggle to remove the
enemy from all Palestinian lands."
- Yasser Arafat (The Jerusalem Post November 1994)
(21)The United Nations spends nine times more per capita on ‘Palestinian refugees' than they do on any
other refugee group. Why are they still near starvation whilst their leader, the late Yasser Arafat, reportedly amassed a
personal fortune of an estimated $1.3 billion ?
(22)The United Nations is the organisation
that encouraged and helped give birth to Israel, the Jewish state, yet now spends much of it's time trying to condemn,
isolate or destroy it.
Israel being the the object of condemnatory resolutions, usually sponsored by an overwhelmingly
Islamic/Arab-based automatic majority that, with together an army of supporting nations, is nearly always successful in passing
any and all resolutions that vilify or condemn Israel.
It is a fact that the UN Security Council has targeted Israel,
devoting 30 per cent of all it's meetings and a full one-third of all it's Resolutions to a country that contains
`less than one-thousandth of the world's population'.
(When Israel deported 12 Palestinian terrorists in
early January 1992, the UN immediately issued a stinging UN Resolution, strongly condemning Israeli action.
But
when Kuwait deported 300,000 Palestinians after the Gulf War, (the vast majority of whom were `innocent victims of base, vindictive
revenge'), because Yasser Arafat supported Saddam Hussein, the UN responded with a thunderous SILENCE. The UN never saw
fit to even discuss it.)
